As temperatures drop, many drivers start their vehicles and leave them running to defrost windows, Please avoid doing this. Leaving your vehicle unattended with the engine running creates serious risks.
Vehicle Theft:- Opportunistic thieves often target vehicles left running. It only takes seconds for your vehicle to be stolen.
Insurance issues:- If your vehicle is stolen while left unattended and the keys are inside, your insurance may not cover the loss.
Legal Consequences:- In some areas, leaving a vehicle running unattended can result in a fine.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO INSTEAD
Stay with your vehicle while it warms up. Use an Ice Scraper or de-icer spray to clear windows before driving. Never leave keys in the ignition if you're not inside the vehicle. Consider using a windscreen cover overnight to reduce frost build-up.
